Our client is a medium sized housing association operating in west London. They have a significant development programme and are looking to appoint a Senior Development Manager to lead on the project management of significant land-led new residential and mixed-use developments from inception through to completion. The post holder will be managing other members of the delivery team.
Take overall responsibility for project management of development sites and effectively lead a team of Project Managers, managing performance whilst providing mentoring and guidance. Creating a culture of high performance and continuous improvement through a variety a managerial skills/methods.
Lead and manage your own projects and lead teams of consultants and contractors to deliver a portfolio of complex housing development schemes of all tenures, including Rent, Shared Ownership, Commercial and Private Sale.
Be responsible for well thought-out project plans for all your projects, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives.
Plan and manage a portfolio of projects to ensure schemes are delivered on time and to budget and meet the highest quality standard.
Provide regular performance information (scheme progress, risk analysis, and expenditure against budget) and programme update reports.
Manage the contract budgets to ensure that the total scheme costs remain within the Approved Budget and delivery timescales.
Establish/deliver the Project Brief and establish/maintain Project teams, ensuring business wide engagement in each scheme. Plan and coordinate work with other internal departments to ensure internal resource requirements are understood and the right resources are available when required.
Work closely with Sales colleagues to ensure all required development related sales and marketing collateral are in place for successful sales launches.
Work collaboratively with Finance colleagues, managing project cashflows, taking ownership of scheme appraisals, applying financial assumptions and closely monitoring sensitivities.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key strategic partners.
Assist in the selection, appointment and briefing of consultants and in monitoring performance of consultants and contractors.
Champion Health and Safety within the development team to ensure all statutory responsibilities are satisfied.
We are looking for somebody who has:
At least 5 years’ experience of managing the delivery of complex and challenging residential schemes from inception to completion.
A degree level qualification or equivalent or can demonstrate experience of new scheme procurement including scheme optimisation, contract management, tendering, managing the design process and monitoring scheme progress and programme.
Experienced in procuring and managing consultants and contractors in a construction environment.
Strong financial acumen and experience of carrying out and analysing financial appraisals.
Fantastic team leader qualities and with experience in managing staff and a small development team of project managers.
A clean full driving licence and use of a car for frequent travel and regular site visits.
