Community Engagement Officer

Lewisham Homes is an ambitious and growing business managing over 18,000 homes in an ever changing and increasingly complex environment. We are a not-for-profit organisation committed to consistently delivering an excellent and reliable resident experience whilst leading the borough’s first council housing development in 30 years.
We have ambitious targets to achieve in tackling the housing crisis and meeting the Lewisham Mayor’s aim of building 1,000 new, social rented homes. Lewisham Homes as delivery agent for the Council are delivering 500 of those new social rented homes in addition to commercial units, private sale and shared ownership homes. As a result we are expanding our development team and are looking for people who can be both strategic and hands on and can work collaboratively with our staff, customers and stakeholders.

We are looking for a Community Engagement Officer to support our development team, assist with the successful delivery of residential-led mixed use developments and unlock social value. You will help support and empower the Achilles Street regeneration scheme that has just received a positive GLA ballot from residents for the redevelopment of the existing estate and part of New Cross Road. This mixed use, mixed tenure scheme will provide approximately 450 new homes and a range of socio economic community projects.

You will need experience of developing and delivering stakeholder engagement for a diverse community, ideally gained in the housing and regeneration sector. Knowledge of the planning and development process is crucial, along with excellent communication skills.

This is a great opportunity to join an experienced, dynamic team that has been built in the past six months and is delivering innovative projects centered around excellent community involvement. We are looking for a great collaborator who thrives operating as part of a cross-organisational team.

In return you will receive:

• A competitive salary
• Generous pension scheme
• Interest free season ticket loan to help you travel to work
• Generous annual holiday, starting at 26 days a year
• Interest-free bike or computer loans
• Discounts through partners for redecorating your home
• Discounts at local shops and cafes
• Social events and activities throughout the year
We can be reached by trains directly from Waterloo, London Bridge, and King’s Cross St. Pancras.
